December 2018 Spotlight Topic: the qualification of new recruits

  • Published: 07 Jan 2019

The December 2018 quarter spotlight topic will be the qualification of new recruits. The qualification of new recruits was the spotlight topic for the December quarter last year. In this quarter, we ask the same question after a year to compare results. Your answers will give us insights on whether formal qualification has become more or less importance in recruiting new disability support workers. A new question on recruitment policy is added in this quarter.

Below are the two supplementary questions:

  1. In this quarter, how many of your newly recruited casual and permanent disability support workers in this workforce have a disability-related certificate qualification?

    Note:
Please do not include volunteers, agency employees, sub-contractors or self-employed persons.
Disability-related qualifications include Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), Certificate IV in Disability, Diploma of Disability, Certificate IV in Mental Health, Certificate III and Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (or any other relevant VET qualification).

  2. Is a disability-related certificate qualification an essential criterion for the role of disability support worker in your organisation?
    Please answer yes or no.
